What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was by far my best class in 2017. I have put some detailed thought into how I am going to execute my lesson plan. Each activity had a punch line that would challenge the learners, and I knew that it would challenge them because I knew their levels. As a result, it created a special engaging environment where learners inevitably had to collaborate with each other in order to get the right answers. I have used a lot of energy and enthusiasm while teaching and that affected the learners in a positive way. As a result, learners felt comfortable to communicate to each other in English a little bit. At the end, one of the learners said to me, ” I like you teach” which is probably an indication that she enjoyed learning and feeling comfortable to overcome the lack of confidence and shame to speak up in English. Powerful stuff!!!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): I had only one learner. We practiced street numbers, directions, and talked about nearby parks. The class seemed to be difficult for the one learner so I slowed down and worked with the learner 1 on 1 a lot on pronunciation.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Great class! We had a new Somalian learner who was confused a little in the beginning with what we were doing, but then got comfortable due to the Marc’s welcoming energy and the classes overall eagerness to help each other. Lots of laughter and working together to reach language fluency goals among students.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): it was Joseph’s first silent class! He brought peanut butter jam and a loaf of bread! Learners had to spread the peanut butter jam on a slice of a whole wheat bread! Students practiced saying what they were doing and then they ate their slice of peanut butter bread! It was incredibly fun activity! Joseph did a good job but we agreed that the lesson plan needs to have more instructions and details for the DJ to follow and it needs to be communicated before class several times!
