We got through the sentences, but I felt that it disengaged the learners. I wasn’t happy with my performance with this one. Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 4What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We had a TEFL student who wanted to observe the class to fulfill his TEFL observation requirement hours. They didn’t register on the website. Rockwood library directed them to my class. I made a mistake by giving him two options with their observation (participate in our class or take notes while seating in the back) sitting in the back and taking notes will scare the students away so never ever do that. Always ask the shadowers or observers to participate, unless there is a agreed upon circumstance where it is allowed.

Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 3What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Meh, not the best class back after a break- I was a little off, they seemed tired and it was cold in the building! They were telling me it was even colder in the factory and didn’t seem too happy about it (they have also all been working a lot of overtime so they seemed tired). Also, I had a cool idea to do a module on world cultures, where we’d learn about different customs/traditions of various cultures talking about differences, unique interesting facts, etc.. but the truth is, I didn’t plan very well and got overwhelmed and nervous before the class so I totally ditched and threw together a plan during lunch break. All in all it was fine and I know we’ll get back into the swing of things, it just was one of those ‘not very bueno’ classes- it happens! The cool thing about the class was we did have a few side discussions about issues relevant to them so ultimately I guess having that space every once in a while is totally fine as long as no one is lost- and… no one was :)
