Grace worked with a Cloze activity, though we realized the live action one, though engaging, was difficult to hear. The cartoon version was a little clearer. We also started off without alphabet, talking about monkeys, Bachelorette, etc. She brought food and drink! Also, very composed for a visit from Patrik!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): used a performance review form, and had them go over it.. it seemed interesting to folks so it was good. but there were problems on the sheet, and with more planning, I would have been able to have them evaluate me, but I abandoned that as problematic.

Though the lesson lacked visual interest, we filled it out with a dialogue.. words like switch, cover my shift were unusual. One learner revealed that he’d had two strokes. It was a good feeling group.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): As common, small group at the beginning, but continued trickles throughout, ending up with 20.. one person coming late enough that I decided not to count her. This report is one day late. Basically, we passed around branches of cherry, maple, cedar, hemlock and other tree parts.. lively, funny, a little chaotic, and it got a little blocked up around one corner of the room.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The largest class we’ve ever had at Rockwood! Thank goodness for amazing shadowers helping out and the H format, which works pretty well for keeping folks connected and ease of support for the shadowers/facilitators. Activities themselves a little slow going, but interpersonal connection made the difference. Ended a little late, and updated this report 2 days late.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): I was about 5 minutes late, and reworked the classroom completely, even though it had been set up in islands fairly well. everyone was waiting, and it set the tone. I was off balance and without a plan. A good thing though was we did use the Deck of Professions fairly effectively, but mostly the technique was go around the room and repeat. One learner asked to sit somewhere, and I said no.. at the end, we did a walk around, but with not enough time, making the end of the class a little clunky and confusing.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Another large class.. Barbara and I chose a unique arrangement, the H style, and it actually went well. It makes four ends with a middle block, though the corners are awkward. Barbara and I both felt afterwards that this arrangement, though not without its problems, was relatively easy to manage.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Interesting evening. Sunny warm day, and a good sized group for the evening. A couple of young new folks who came with chaperones. A little shy, and the group just seemed to have difficulty raising up the energy, as well as the chaperone getting a shadowing crash course. Feeling ended up being ok, will have to see if they come back, but it’s good that nearby programs are seeing this as a place for folks to come.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Today was tough.. we all agreed it didn’t flow. The most important factor was that it was the largest class size we’ve had yet, and in the top 5% of class sizes we’ve ever had. But nearly half of the participants were in their first or second day, and several were quite low skilled, so they need a little training and a lot of support.
