Our newcomer from honduras came for the 2nd time and seemed to enjoy it. a new russian speaker came, kind of out of the blue, an au pair, but pretty high level skills. we set up a proficiency plan for the following day. activities themselves useful and interesting

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Continuing to work with a single learner who really needs help with pronunciation, and worked out a pretty good model for them. They start to explain, then I slow them down, and we try to dictate what their saying. Choral response, then they try to say three times well. Then cover up and say it. I feel like they are hitting difficult proununciation much more often.

High engagement from our Chinese speaker who clearly announced anything written in Chines, and really appreicated pointing out words on signs, and took pictures of each one. Then went outside.. lightpole, bench, curb, grass, parking lot, pavement

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Sue and I used her map of Oregon, which was fairly engaging.. surprisingly difficult to find portland at the very beginning! But after they got it, it was a lot easier.. ramped up the drama quite a bit, and eventually was getting them. One learner who really struggles still struggled, but she brokethrough by finding the word forest, a bit surprising given what appears an inability to read. Then she saw the word siuslaw… though I think they were guesses, they were very accurate guesses.
