    We started with ABC’s and yell and spell names. We then spent the rest of the class doing a round robin dialogue about whether or not any of us had kids, if so how old, etc. We were able to practice the same phrases multiple times while adding dialogue each round.

    We started with alphabet sheets, yell and spell names and the title of today’s lesson. We then wrote down a couple of sentences and used them for the next activity for round robin with pictures of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Then, we listened to speech excerpts from both candidates. We then dictated selected portions of what they said, practiced saying them, then listened to the video again. We ended with a word search that had information for both candidates on there.
    Ramin sat in to observe this class.

    We did the alphabet sheets, yell and spelled our names, and then did the title of today’s lesson. Maureen brought in a globe that we used for a dialogue activity to show where our families were from. We then did a sentence dictation and did dialogue with this as well. We then did a word search with a word cloud and finished up with a fun word making game using scrabble pieces and relevant words we had practiced throughout the class.

    What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We began with ABC sheets, yell and spell names and the title of today’s lesson. We were then introduced to a number of different items that were used in a later activity. Then we did dictation. We also did a word search followed by a game where we matched the items to different sections of the word search. The teacher showed them a carton of milk, they had to find the label that matched: Ex. Do not drink milk or eat dairy products while taking this medication. Then they each got their own item and had to read the corresponding section. We also did an activity where we had to do different actions if we liked or didn’t like certain foods. We ended with some open conversation.

    What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):

    Coming into the class, we had not only several student assistants help out today, but we had 4 additional assistants in a class of just 4 learners! The class was very high energy and lively. We started off by introducing ourselves to each other, then did choral response with the names. We did the storm activity which got everyone laughing. We also did the round robin activity with asking people if they had ever broken a bone or had stitches. We also did the body parts listen and do and wrote these down towards the end.
