We started with 2 learners as we did the ABC’s. 2 more learners joined us about half-way through. We then moved on to Yell and Spell names followed by the title of today’s lesson. When we were done with this, two more people joined the class and we watched a video about Black Friday. They were asked to pick out words or phrases that caught their attention and were also given a transcript to do this with. We also did a short document search exercise and practiced reading sentences about Black Friday aloud. We also did a listen and do exercise and an open discussion at the end.Estefania ZavalaSpectatorLesson Title: Suffering for Suffrage

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This week we started with a smaller number and like last week ended up with a lot more than expected! We started with alphabet sheets, then moved on to writing down some of the letters and number combinations that Charlie dictated. We moved on to yell and spell with names and then dictation with writing down the sections that we would do dialogue practice with. We also learned a little about some presidents and their parties, and practiced saying a little about them. We ended with some listen and do with directions (N, NE, SW etc.) and also with verbs.Estefania ZavalaSpectatorLesson Title: Close Enough for Government Work

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
We started with the alphabet sheets and about 4 people in the class. The class size grew as it went on (I think our last participant came in at about 2:45), so we had to do some small rearrangements but it all went smoothly! We went on some dictation with choral response, yell and spell, a document search, listen and do and then some dialogue. We finished with a short after class chat. Everyone was very engaged and laughing a lot!

We had another assistant come in towards the end (didn’t catch her name). We also had a native English speaker there that came in with a learner and ended up helping us out too!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Charles started with the alphabet sheet then moved on to numbers. We also did the name activity where we took turns spelling out our names. We also did a fun activity where we got up and pointed to different directions (N, S, NE, SW etc.) He then picked places and we had to guess in what direction they were. We followed that up with asking each other questions (Do you know any interesting facts about the Declaration of Independence?) and then wrote down sentences followed short explained answers they could listen to. This was Charles dress rehearsal and my first time DJing.
