What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Owen did well with a bare bones outline. Deck of cards was used in a round robin style with each learner introducing person to their left with the card they held in hand. This process ran our class about five minutes over. Everyone seemed to enjoy, laughed a lot and dialogued well with each other.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was a very interesting lesson. There were several hands on items that were used to ask the question (is this an emergency?) We went through the normal routine items of letters and yell and spell then the learners were shown various items and asked to write the names of them then we passed them around and talked about their uses. We then asked questions about when to use each item. Some were familiar with the items and for some of them the items were new.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
We had a few slowly join us a bit late… a few that I haven’t seen before, but says they been there before. Barabara the volunteer left about 15 minutes early and arrived just as we were starting… so we didn’t really have time to talk to her about our expectations… she said she cam from the Hillsdale Branch Library to come see… that they have been referring their patrons to the Rockwood library but.. its too far for most… and the one in Hillsobor is far and not in their county…
being thta we had a big class… we stragetically placed ourselves to try to see everyone.. Mark & I learned that we make sure to get eye contact to make sure we aren’t loosing anyone. Today we talked about refugees that brought more than thier stuff… example.. Albert Einstein brought his genius knowledge of science to the US..(I learned something myself) It was a great opportunity to show them that we beleive that they too bring something of value to add to the US.October 26, 2015 at 3:01 pm #6846Brooke StadySpectatorLesson Title: Highlights of the Bill of Rights

Charlie engaged the class and made the Bill of Rights a fun topic to learn about. He had students get up in front of the class to act out a skit, which I liked. The pointing to letters could be more specific & repetive with certain letters as you see need in each given class. The learners seems to be engaged especially when they get to speak about themselves. They liked going around asking what language do you speak? There was a whole bunch of laughter & connection…October 27, 2015 at 11:29 pm #6858Ramin TokhiSpectatorLesson Title: money can’t buy love

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): a fun class, and it was great to have another library person come and check it out.. she liked it. The group was in good spirits, though I’m struggling a little with the loyalty cards just not being quite right, even though I taught last night. Too many cards! But we are getting towards the beginning of the month, so we can eliminate many of them. There was a lot of positive response when Sally asked.. do they get a prize for completing their card? I said, yes, they’ll get a tablet if they go to 100 classes.. and there was an audible excitement to that!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): we worked on the basic lesson plan and played a game of Simon says with body parts which was easy for some and tricky for others due to the Simon says part, but people overall enjoy doing games and participate as much as they can. We also spent time helping with pronunciation of difficult words so when they came up Owen went around and asked for the learners to say the specific words. The dictation went well and everybody was working together. Simon is the quickest in the room and usually gets things right on the first try with only minor mistakes so usually we check his first and then make the small corrections and he jumps in to help the others sitting around him so that usually takes in 5-6 people. This allowed Owen and I to work with the rest of the class that was having a bit more difficulty.
