What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Very engaged class. It was really nice that we had 7 learners and 4 leaders, so everyone got lots of one on one time. Estafania designed a lesson with a nice combination of writing, speaking and TPR activities.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
Estefania was not feeling well so at Ramin’s suggestion, she made this her first “silent lesson” and Diana did the talking. There were two new learners, a nice-sized group, and well thought-out lesson plan. Things went swimmingly!Diana TeshSpectatorLesson Title: Bus Stop

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): One new-comer and a couple people who had not been there for a long time. Sort of a quiet/low key group since many did not know each other. Had just one Trimet map to share and trace where different Max lines run to and from. Lots of dictation progression practice.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Participants from 4 different continents and all levels of English. It was good to have 2 assistants. One new person. Estafania had pictures of all the foods we talked about, which helped with comprehension. She lost internet access and wasn’t able to show the video she’d planned, but seamlessly rolled into another activity instead. It seemed like the class started out sort of subdued but energy picked up as the 90 minutes went on. Ended on a good note with discussion about people’s favorite foods.

Comments: It was a pretty laid-back class, all regular students. 3 had completely filled in their loyalty cards and we started new ones for them. Most of the class seemed to know each other and there was lots of joking and teasing (mostly in Spanish, unfortunately).

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was Arien’s second “silent” class so he mimed everything to the DJ, who “translated” into spoken English. It was sort of funny and sort of awkward. The class started with 4 learners who were very engaged (except for a phone call one person took outside of the room). About 2/3 of the way through, 2 additional learners showed up, with low-beginning English skills, which caused us to miss a couple beats. We tried to include them in the last part of the class, but they never really fully integrated in the group. Fortunately, they seem motivated to try again. Both stayed for 30 minutes after class and we spent some time explaining the schedule and where they could go for additional classes at times/days that met their schedules. They were concerned their English skills were not good enough and I encouraged them to come again, at the beginning of class, when we can tailor things more to their needs. Hope we see them again.
