What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
We had two new learners, and another fairly new learner with two children in tow too, but everything went super well and smooth. Started with Alphabet, Yell & Spell, and then some dictation before passing around various parts of a tree. Also did a word search, and a document search on information on Douglas Firs. Kellie also brought apple slices to share! Lots of laughter, and learners helped each other a lot.Ashlyn TeatherSpectatorLesson Title: Wrap It Up

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The lesson plan was made by Ashley and Patrik, and well delivered by Megan! We started with Alphabet Listen & Point, Yell and Spell, and then a dictation progression on the steps of how to make wrapping paper from a paper bag. After writing those steps down we handed out paper bags and Megan went back through the steps and the learners did them all together. We had a couple artists in the room! It was a fun class! Lots of laughter and engagement and lots of working together amongst learners. One new learner who seemed comfortable and fit in quickly.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Started with Alphabet Listen & Point and then Yell and Spell. Did a variation of Yell and Spell where the learners spelled their names a second time in a sing-songy way, followed by a choral response from the group. Most of the class was then spent doing a doc search on a doc that outlined the different roles in the President’s cabinet, much emphasis on correctly pronouncing many new words and the new definition of “secretary”. Ended class on time with two dictation progressions. Then, special surprise at the end, Trimet came in and filmed the class for about 10 minutes. Patrik asked everyone in the beginning of class if they’d want to stay afterwards to be filmed, and everyone stayed! We had fun doing dictation progressions of the Trimet employees names. Good, fun, engaging class. Had two seeing-impaired assistants in class today and we discovered good ways to allow them to assist learners effectively. In reflection, we discussed maybe even the possibility of getting some braille printed alphabet sheets.
