What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):

This lesson on Nina Simone was engaging and fun, it started out with facts about the artist, we listened to a song, reviewed vocabulary for body parts (relevant to the song) and the students filled out a cloze worksheet with the song lyrics using the vocab words. The lesson finished up with a rhythmic repeat of the lyrics which was very fun and everyone participated and gained good rhythm. Also, between the three of us, we managed to clean up and organize the box too, which is nice because it was terrifying.

This home garden themed lesson included a round robin about home gardens, a listen’n’point from a gardening book and a question/answer about the students who do have gardens. Two new learners joined us today and there was good connection over people’s gardening habits.

There was dictation about farmers markets, fruit and vegetable vocabulary, listen’n’point map and informational, dialogue about pricing per pound and questions about favorite fruits’n’veggies. By the end of the class everyone knew what a farmers market was.

Today was Oregon Cities and Towns based on a previous lesson on counties. There were 4 new people and new loyalty cards were created for them. Several people came in late, after “Names: Yell and Spell”. Everyone was very helpful to the new people. There wasn’t quite enough material to cover the time on the lesson plan, but the MC and DJ came up with enough content based on the original lesson plan to fill the lesson (a couple of dictations and a couple round robins). After the lesson, Amy and Herb discussed the class and completed the self-evaluation. They called Jake to get some help on how to do attendance, he was super helpful. Amy and Herb figured out how to do the attendance codes. Amy completed the Past Tense journal at the library but had to ask Santiago about Guild Level, so she completed Attendance at home.
