What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We weren’t sure how attendance would be due to the weather. We had three learners – two return learners who are there almost every week and one new person who was the husband of one of the learners. Sara did a great job of navigating engagement since we had two low-level learners and one high-level one. Great class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The Black History Month celebration was happening this evening at Rigler, so we only had two learners who showed up around 6:30. It was a good class and these are two very committed learners. Way to be flexible, Brooke!

The use of maps made us realize that some people have never seen a map before and may not know that blue represents water or green represents forests. Just an example that we can’t take things for granted. Activities got learners talking to each other.

The new learner was at a lower level than the others which made it a little challenging. The original plan was to have colorful maps but we made due with black and white copies.

The learners are really starting to form a cohesive group. They are now joking with each other. Ran out of time at the end but got all the data.

Class #3 at this location. Patrik brought lots of different types of apples which were passed around the group to try. This made it really fun for the learners. There were a lot of children that attended with their moms but there was a teenager there who took care of them pretty well. The children actually outnumbered the learners, but it went fine. Learners seemed really engaged and I think they enjoyed the class very much.Lesson Title: Zoned: Residential

It was also the first class at Irvington after having classes all summer at St. Andrews. So nice to have so many learners show up even though the location changed.
