    How Many Learners: 8
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): need attendance record sheets

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 8
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 8
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 9

    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 7
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 8

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The engagement was very well in a class. Although some words were quite difficult, they tried to help each other. Moreover, Francine had a role-play activity about remaining silent. Learners were fun and enjoyable with a role-play that Francine was a police. When she asked some questions, learners would remain silent. In the end of the class, we had watched a video about how to do when ICE approach us. We had a pronunciation activity by repeating what a video said.

    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 7
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 7

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was another great class taught by Maureen. We were surprised that only four learners showed up. Perhaps, it is due to weather conditions. The learners asked us many questions about president’s day. Specifically, why it is not celebrated in some states, and why it is not a national holiday.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): the MC presented language focused around how to be safe in the event of an earthquake; the learners were challenged to produce new language; the lesson was perhaps too challenging for most of the learners, however, they appreciated the importance and reality of the subject matter. The MC did a great job stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This class was fantastic! It was one of those times when everything worked swimmingly. I dictated the Sister Sledge song and they questioned me about the repeats, AND the incorrect grammar! I was so pleasantly surprised. They started to catch on that maybe what they were writing was a song?? A thought maybe it was a Beatles song with the word ‘together’ being included and was shocked when I sang (a little tiny bit) “Come Together.” The song was perfect connective tissue. We ended the class with a riveting game of Scrabble tile scramble ‘LADIES V. GENTLEMEN’ edition where I was corrected on my bad spelling!!! waht waht waht…:(

    Total Score: 45

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): I had learners write several lyrics to the Sister Sledge song “We are Family.” One learner recognized that it could be a song. He asked if i knew the Beatles. We listened to the song on my phone and they followed along on their photocopied lyric sheet I handed out. We filled in a simple family tree and discovered several like names ie. my great gransmother’s name is Lena. We memorized how many brothers and sisters we all had and I did a rapid-fire point-and-question around the table. We ended the class with a ladies vs. gentlemen game of Scrabble Spell. Great, lively, funny class!
