What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): interesting class.. lots of new learners, several russian speakers. They were a little difficult to get working together at first, as it often is at the beginning of a term, but by the end, they were saying, thank you, great teacher. a bit surprising because pushing back with the russian speakers doesn’t always work! also, several folks interested in coming to the worker center

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): a good group.. three brand new folks, and still working with 3 other newbies, who are still getting used to the rhythm.. as a result, definitely moves slower with less cohesion, but was able to get folks organized soon enough. two couples came. There were moments where a spanish speaker and a russian speaker were totally cracking up together. Found out they have a different word for throat in Colombia!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Janet lead a class around snow activities that don’t cost a lot of money or need a special equipment. Since it had just snowed the day before the class, there was still a lot of excitement about the weather. The class ended with a rip-roaring snowball fight (using rolled-up white socks!).

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was a fantastic class and I had fun from start to finish. I wasn’t familiar with anyone in the class, except Mr. A, and most of them came to class super early. I got to meet the learners while I was setting up. They were so nice and eager to help me move tables, etc. I modified my sentences as I noticed low-proficiency during LISTEN & POINT. Learners helped each other, used technology and asked questions–the learning eagerness was palpable. We had a silly, funny and engaging time passing around Hershey’s kisses with Valentine messages on the bottom and one learner even wrote her neighbor an accompanying Valentine message to pass during that ROUND ROBIN that was such a simple symbol for why we do this work.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): small group, deviated from the theme to focus on winter weather, which I was really praying for, even though that’s the wednesday theme. Mic Crenshaw was in the other room and they had a small turnout, felt conflicted because I wanted to bring the group in there, but also wasn’t sure it would work for him or the learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was a great class because Maureen brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to class. There was a lot of laughter present among learners who were mainly Russian speakers. One learner was really appreciative when we showed her on the board the difference between nominal and cardinal numbers. She said, “I see those th,st,nd,rd next to numbers and I did not know what they meant”.
