What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We had a big group this time including two new learners . We went over bicycle maps and road signs. Learners still struggled with directionals and with a role play about traffic citations. the listen and Do activity based on road sign seemed to work well and we fun with it.

We tried a different way of alphabet sheet, Patrik tried different pronunciations of ( A ) or ( E ) or ( I ) in english like fill, fall, full.fool and etc. The connection of the group was amazing, one of the learners even took a picture of the group just for a memory.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We got a late start due to the very small number of learners that arrived, only two, with five assistants! It was a first time for Anna, Heather and David, whom we welcomed and put to work with lots of “you got it”s. :) Ben admitted he hadn’t prepared a lesson and was going to wing-it. The lesson was titled “taking a break” and we went around the room describing and writing down ways we all take a break (reading, going to the beach, travelling etc.). We then moved to the Deck of Professions and learned the names of several professions before moving to a Listen and Point to the lyrics of Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night”. After that we watched the video of the song and followed along on the lyric sheet. We finished up class with a TPR led by Colin. Even though the class was off topic and a little scattered, overall there were lots of laughs and as David put it “created a fun environment to learn without fear”.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Overall a pretty solid class, especially since neither the MC or DJ (who ended up having to teach last minute, and coordinated/taught together) didn’t have much time to plan. We pulled it together quite well I must say! We started off with the usual alphabet and yell n spell and then talked about the lesson title, which was “Green Thumb”. We found out that not very many people in the class have a green thumb. We explored the topic of Green Streets via a document search and then some dictation with related voacb words and their definitions. We then did a map/direction related TPR and ended class with an exploration of a map of the Gresham area. We made sure to point out the Rockwood library. Fun class!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was Julie’s dress rehearsal. I was really impressed with her poise and technique. We did a dictation based on Mayra’s video story, a dictation based on David’s Safe Roads story, listen and do with driving words, and listen and point with traffic sign sheets.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Today David had his first “gentle intervention”, we started off with the alphabet sheet then we spelled our names one letter at a time very fast first time then second time slower so that learners can write each name down then we went over some interesting materials such as maps and voting applications then we did a dictation. Since it was David’s “gentle intervention” Patrik intervened into some activities and explained some nuances of how to approach some activities and it was very useful to be there and observe everything. Oh we also had a new learner :)

What happened was that I had to teach and I supposed to be an assistant. Coling didnt show up so I had to teach the class and it went pretty good, i had 2 new students and they really enjoyed the class. We focused a lot in people’s profetions, i created a story with one of the pictures: “the bus driver” and i did dictation, pronuntiation and writing and reading, then we played memory.October 1, 2014 at 3:00 pm #3891David RutiezerSpectatorLesson Title: Safe Roads

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
The class went well today considering the class MC had to be silent the entire class. There was a lot of constructive banter amongst students and they found David’s animated faces and body language amusing. The students did really well with communicating across cultures and stepping outside of their comfort zones. We switched u the seating which made students talk to each other more.October 2, 2014 at 10:44 am #3894WebMaestrexKeymasterLesson Title: Green Streets

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
Class went well with 3 new students. There was a disconnect between the listen and point sheet (an ad for a market, looked to be from the 50s or 60s) and the topic, Green Streets, but Ramin used that prop effectively. Students very helpful to one another. Very upbeat class and many students thanked the teachers personally afterwards.October 3, 2014 at 4:26 pm #3904Ramin TokhiSpectatorLesson Title: Voting

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): One of the biggest classes I’ve ever seen 17 people including 5 new learners. We had to move from the small room into the bigger one because we couldn’t fit in the small room. It was Joshua’s first time teaching after a break and it was definitely an intense class for both of us but from my point of view Joshua did a good job. Joshua was late for the class but I backed him up and after he arrived he smoothly took control of the class. We went over Alphabet sheet, yell n spell, and dictation. We didn’t make the class more challenging because we had a student that couldn’t write in English at all, therefore we tried to make her feel comfortable by slowing the dictation part but still other students were engaged pretty well. Basically, I would say that the class was very successful considering all the circumstances that we’ve managed effectively.
