What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We learned new vocabulary related to hand washing, and used a handout to learn the proper way to wash our hands. We went around the table asking each other what is the most important step in preventing germs (wash your hands). Listen and Do involved various motions showing the steps of proper hand washing. We ended class by using a Fight BAC handout for listen and point. This was a smaller than usual class, but we had a few new learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We began with 1/2 of usual learners present, about 5. Six more showed up later, one as late as 45 minutes. There was considerably good participation by all once they were present; a lot of laughter and friendly banter between and among all the learners. We concluded the class with playing online Judy Garland singing “Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries.” Then phrase by phrase class learners wrote down the opening lyrics, then all joined in the singing of this classic rendition

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): I arrived early, we ended up with the bigger room. A new student arrived early wanted to know more about the class. They wanted help prepping for their citizenship test. They wanted to practice talking about the weather. The new student ended up staying for the whole class and was much more positive at the end of it. We had two other new students. Janet was a little late and Sam and I were able to get the class started until she arrived. We were able to keep the energy high and the activities fun.June 12, 2015 at 5:23 pm #5704Stevie ElepanSpectatorLesson Title: Nutrition

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Not a terrible class, but being in the big room just wasn’t as fun.. they’re kind of not used to it, and a couple of learners left early – 3 in fact. 2 were hurting, and it was clear during the class.. they weren’t making it up, but in a way, this class was.. they were not loving it in the same way. The topic of 4th of July has a lot of emotion around it for newcomers, and I’m not sure the star spangled banner was my favorite choice today. Also, I was distracted tidying up other things that need tidying up. It was neat seeing several of the learners from RW that day show up in the evening, too!

Very fun for the class.
