What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Since we only had two students, Grace asked if they’d like to go out to eat and have a conversational class. (She offered to treat if the students ordered in English. Thank you, Grace!) Since I know the area best, I was asked to suggest locations. We decided Ava Roasteria was a good option. Maria Luisa drove us all, and got some very impromptu practice taking directions in English, which she handled very well. Maria Luisa and Teresa ordered their drinks in English as promised, and we got a couple fancy pastries to share (Again, thank you, Grace!) We sat outside and ate while having English conversation practice. Topics included work, family, language learning, and more.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): After warm up activities, Priya did a dictation progression with the title of the lesson (The Best Things in Life are at the Beach). She then showed the students photos of beach activities on her phone and asked the students to suggest sentences to describe the activities in the photos, doing a dictation progression for each photo. Teresa and Maria Luisa had made food for the class, so we took a break to share the food (Yum!) Then Priya segued into a video about the perfect marshmallow roasting technique, and asked students to write down words that they heard in the video. She finished the class with a round robin using beach items (sunblock, beach hat, seashell).

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): After warm up activities, Sheila led a word search using a blueberry fact sheet. She then did a dictation progression using a short dialogue about berry season, after which students practiced the dictation. After that she did an activity that got everyone out of their seats, a body part listen and point. She finished with a multi-part activity that began with her drawing a fruit on the board, asking the students to guess the name of the fruit, asking the students to guess the spelling, picking a student who had called out the correct spelling and having them lead a yell and spell for the rest of the class, writing the name of the fruit on the board, and finally asking students to indicate with a gesture whether they liked, loved, or didn’t like the fruit at all.

Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 6Total Score: 35
What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was Charlie’s final class. Patrik attended in the capacity of assistant as part of the “You’re the Boss, Now” experience. Charlie started the class with alphabet listen and point, and some letter and number writing practice, followed by a three person dialogue practicing introductions. He started by modeling the dialogue with Patrik and I multiple times, then swapping the students in one at a time, until the students were filling all three parts in the dialogue. After a word search using the great outdoors word cloud, and some practice with outdoor activity words, Charlie passed around pictures of various outdoor activities and asked the students to create sentences about the pictures. Afterwards, we had a discussion about the pictures, and then about our own favorite (or not!) outdoor activities. The class ended with partner conversation practice.
