What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Pretty large class with 2 or 3 new learners. Some folks who we haven’t seen for a week or more showed up again so that was nice. One learner insists on writing names and spelling everything out which sort of derails the group and keeps him from practicing pronunciation. MC corrected him and asked him to put pencil down and it was an awkward minute but everything carried on fine. We did round Robin “This is a …” with storm water picture things. Also were able to promote the Connect to Kinder event tonight. Great having so many shadowers! really good class today

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): 8 Learners, our very low skill level Chinese speaker showed up again, seemed like she felt pretty overwhelmed but was able to participate. Generally lots of laughter in the class, thats good. Reminded of importance of model down. Some learners commented on it being difficult, all the words, especially towards the end with green infrastructure pictures.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Very pleased to see so many folks show up, we had a very good well paced alphabet sheet activity and name spell. Fire alarm went off which upset the pace of the class but MC managed it super well. We have a new learner with very low skill level, not very good writing skills and wasn’t following what the Name Spell activity was about, but I think she received enough support to want to come back tomorrow.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
Not as many learners showed up to this class. Alphabet spell moved pretty quickly at times too fast for a couple of learners but was well organized. Dictation was educational and went well with the map-point activity. A couple of learners were concerned about the pace of the dictation section, were hoping for it to be slower, louder and more deliberate. One learner also wanted to write everybody’s name down after the fact and we reminded him to be patient and practice more over time. That was a kind of uncomfortable moment because those two learners felt swamped behind, but MC and I decided that we would be slower with the Yell and Spell, have more systematic Dictation sequence and do more interactive Model-down activities

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): First class, went very well, had many eager learners. Room arrangement went pretty well. Not space for more than another person or two to join at this point. MC did good job of getting people to trust him although it is all new to them and moving very systematically.
