What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The class started a little slower with fewer learners, but both were engaged and participating in the activities. The MC tackled learners not understanding the difference between years and decades by diverting from the current activity, and they gained better understanding. The students found relevance in the subject matter of the TriMet. At the end of class, one learner took a HOP card.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Today we celebrated Zadok’s birthday with a potluck. Around the table we discussed the earthquakes in Mexico and exercise routines. After the meal we gathered around and did a “Here’s an apple” activity with Yahtzee. Once all the items were identified the learners wrote them down. Then through speak and repeat we went through the rules of the game. Lastly we played Yahtzee.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Zadok opened class with the programs foundational activities. After this students compared their ways of playing rock, paper, scissors. Then Zadok took the class through a TPR activity to pre-teach the vocabulary we would be using later on. He then had the students write down the vocabulary. We reviewed the vocabulary throughout. Then Zadok dictated the rules for the game Carcassonne. The students wrote down the rules. Then we played the game for the remainder of class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Zadok opened class with the alphabet sheet, after which we spelled and said our names. Then Zadok had the students spell our last names using Bananagram tiles. The next activity was TPR with card game actions. Then the students were instructed to write down those actions. Before we played the game “Pit” Zadok went through the instructions, asking the students to write down the rules for the game. The rules included the TPR vocabulary. Then we played “Pit”for the remainder of class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
Zadok led the class through a lesson on the Vaux’s Swifts. We started with the alphabet identification activity, the spelling and repeating of the class members’ names. Students were then instructed to write down the title of the lesson. Then Zadok handed out a informational sheet on the Vaux’s Swifts and students were given phrases to identify. Each of the assistants and the DJ contributed to the activity. After this activity we watched a video on the birds, after which Zadok instructed the students to write down information regarding the video. The last activity was Q&A. This was particularly effective as students provided alternative answers, all of which were written down.
