What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We enthusiastically participated in ‘Alphabet Listen and Point’ and ‘Yell and Spell’, and then jumped into our lesson of the day: ‘Traction Devices Required’. Joseph had prepared a lesson that included a number of traction devices/winter preparedness items (chains, jumper cables, etc.) and we did dictations and dialogue practice. Then we made hot cocoa in class (!) reading through ingredients and having the learners instruct each other in the various steps. Then we sipped our hot cocoa and discussed various ways the learners make hot winter drinks. Joseph brought tupperware containers so the students could each take home the mix we made. We closed class with another dictation and dialogue called “I am going to Mt. Hood this weekend. Reflected and left.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
We had two brand new students today! Patrik led a number of engaging activities- the ppt standards and some related to immigration. We also discussed the impending winter storm and potential closures in the city. There was a lot of laughing and cooperation. After class, we shared Pilau (sp?) that one of the students had prepared.Anne GraySpectatorLesson Title: Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey
