    Module: At the Doctor
    How Many Learners: 17
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc):

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 8
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 5
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 7

    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 7
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 5

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Great lesson plan including movement (body part Listen and Do); Document Search using pharmacy Label, Dictation & Round Robin using pharmacy conversation (including requesting a translator); and Show-and-“Tell” with Dictation, using common medical supplies. The group’s large size (17) and range of learners was a challenge; but everyone engaged and seemed to have fun. We were lucky to have an observer who jumped right in to help out!

Lesson Title: How Do Pikas Survive
Date of Class: Sep 05, 2019
    Time of Class: 6:00 PM
    MC: ConallFocusedPoliticalstrategist
    DJ: ShelleySincereLearner
    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner: Madelynn
Module: Pikas and Swifts! Animals Adapt
    How Many Learners: 15
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): All good. We’re running low on extra loyalty cards at Midland.

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 7
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 5
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 7
    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 7
    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 6
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 8

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Today we talked about pikas, how they adapt to different weather conditions, and how they are different from humans. Class engagement was good. Some students showed up late, which slowed/disrupted the alphabet sheet activity. MC, DJ, and Shadower discussed ways to keep everyone in track when this happens. Experienced students did a good job helping newer students. First-time students chatted a lot throughout the class and didn’t latch on to “Ready.” MC, DJ, and Shadower discussed ways to keep the class moving quickly and keep everyone on the same page by really emphasizing “Ready!” technique. Some students struggled with writing, which slowed things down, but overall, students were engaged, had high energy, and helped each other with dictation and comprehension

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The lesson incorporated vocabulary for different body parts and practice pointing to the on our bodies. This led to a dialogue where one person role played doctor and the other patient. Each speaker had 3 lines but the learners stayed engaged during dictation and round robin of the dialogue. One new learner who struggled at first but caught on with help from other learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Melissa created a welcoming atmosphere and had a positive attitude for the duration of the lesson. She was consistent, confident, and poised. We looked at a document that was about Oregon Pharmacists and it was clear, contained large print so it was easy to read, and the learners were engaged.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We did a venn diagram activity which went pretty well and the learners understanding increased throughout. We skipped writing down phrases for listen and do, so ended up going through the lesson too fast, but we used the time at the end for more personal questions.

    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 7

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Realizing I didn’t catch the title of the lesson and we did not dictate the title-sorry! Other than that, we did a listening activity then document search with a song, vocabulary dictation around pharmacy/medical words, and ended with a fun game of Bingo that used the same vocabulary. Three new learners, and I noticed a few regulars who are normally receiving help becoming helpers to new learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Learners kept showing up until they capped off at 19, with five first-timers. This required a lot of adaptation from the MC, who lead us through a lesson plan about nontoxic cleaners. A highlight was Bingo cards that the class filled out via dictation of nontoxic cleaning items, with a real life model of the item shown to the class by the MC.

The class itself was very fun. We used different apples to do “this is an apple activity” and dictation about apples. Learners had a lot of fun
