What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): A very nice class. The reflection was reduced by 3 because I posted late, and then somehow it didn’t catch, so I had to repost two days later. The class itself was very good. Normally apprentices are nervous about the Gentle Intervention, but Ramin was cool and collected. I did a little re-organizing of the lesson plan, which I don’t normally do for the gentle intervention, but the song choice to Frosty the Snowman was more in line with where we want to go – something that pulls from the cultural air that we’re breathing rather than something that has the appearance of being about the topic, but is really a disguise for a language learning activity. This is important because with all of our work we want to start from the real world and then use it for language learning, rather than starting from language skill and trying to create something that works for that. Ramin’s technique in general is excellent. A great feeling in the room.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
The class was taught very much by the book. I though the students were listening and engaged but it would have been nice if there were more of a variety of activities for students to participate in. I always find it helpful to get students out of their seats and doing something hands on. We spent a lot of time doing activities that were difficult for some learners who almost saw no end in sight while doing them. that is why changing activities up is important, so that every student can try something new and that may fit their interest. It was also unfortunate that we didn’t get to sing Jingle Bells to close the class. I think that would have been a good way for students to go into the holidays and be made aware of the significance of Christmas in the United States.December 13, 2014 at 3:15 pm #4532Ramin TokhiSpectatorLesson Title: Trim the tree

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was my ” I am the boss class” I had to direct and explain all my assistants including Patrik what they need to do. The class was good, we had 11 students including 2 new students. I could have come up with more modified and game like activities and generally new activities but I had a very hard day, nevertheless I used a basic lesson plan which still was a very useful, informative and engaging plan.
