What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): AWESOME SHADOWERS – several of them, very open and helpful and willing to adjust. The class itself seemed to drag a little, not sure why… we worked to make sure that the lower skill folks stayed on top of it.. we can really see the progress of one of the learners whose writing skills are low. We also had some sweet bonuses Kim was at the library, and she was one of our shadowers with her online certificate 2 years ago.. she went to Korea, and I recognized her walking out, she’s working as a library assistant, and I think she’ll be around more soon. Maureen from OSU Extension was there with healthy food stuff plus free colanders – Joseph brought some rad fairy tale cards; Tiffani said she’s interested in working with us before she goes to Saudi. One learner was pretty negative about obamacare, but by the end of the class, she asked for the phone number for OHP. She was the only one in the class with no insurance.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Class started with Alphabet, Listen & Point, focusing on the letter sounds that are more difficult to learners. We went on with a dictation and dialog practice using realia. There was laughter, and a very positive environment during the activity. After that we did document search and we ended the class with a guessing game which involved asking and answering short questions using the deck of professions.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Not a bad class.. lots of people so we had to put folks on the side. Energy was good, though, and I tried something new.. I had the assistants mix people up.. which turned that part into something useful. Some of the dictations were quite long.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): A nice, large class. 3 new people, I really mixed people up, and I think that helps a lot to create new connections. The side table had ladies in it, and I’m splitting up some of the vietnamese folks.. I think they like it, though they feel like they shouldn’t like it. Lots of challenging medical jargon today.. the listen and do was not as on target as I’d like to see..

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was Joseph’s dress rehearsal today. Class started on time with Alphabet, Listen and Point with almost all seats taken, but learners continued to come until abut a quarter to 7 and we had to bring more tables and ask some folks to sit at another table away from the rest. Logistics didn’t help us much, but we made sure everyone was being taken care of. Joseph was well prepared, confident and knew what to do at every step of the class. The way the students were sitting worked excellently to help low learners catch up and participate more. Assistants were very active and helpful.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Joseph learned about where and how we can make copies. The class flowed really well. The lesson plan ended up being a bit short of material, but Ramin really helped by suggesting an activity to Janet, which worked really well.
The class did Listen & Point, Yell & Spell, Today’s Lesson is…, Sung “Around the Mulberry Bush” with phrases and actions to describe daily activities, Document Search, and Dictation about the Moveable Feast.
The class was having fun, at one point laughing over “I don’t want mice or insects in my chicken” when the word was supposed to be “kitchen.” Also, during document search, the competition to find something first got really competitive in a fun way.November 13, 2015 at 12:18 pm #6926Ramin TokhiSpectatorLesson Title: “Money can help our economy”
