What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):All the learners arrived relatively on time except for one who arrived almost half hour later. However, this learner is a higher-level learner so was able to jump into dictation portion of the class easily. Also, name introduction took place so integration into the group was quick. Instead of the alphabet sheet, a whole sentence was given by assistants to practice speaking, similar to the previous Saturday class. There were two new learners whose level was quickly established by writing the dictation sentences. Due to a total of 4 assistants including the DJ, all lower level learners had dedicated attention from at least one if not multiple assistants.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):All the learners arrived relatively on time. There was a mix of ‘here it is’ activity and dictation sentences that kept all the learners engaged. There was even enough time to dictate a few pages of the book written by Dr Seuss. One of the learner was having a bit more difficulty in both writing and speaking compare to the other two, but made a good attempt nevertheless. Plus there was a good connection between all the learners in general for the atmosphere to be a positive one.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Instead of the alphabet sheet, we practice speaking instead about the current weather. One of the learners brought a friend who came with her daughter, so some of the attention was given to ensure the children were not a source of distractions throughout the class. The main highlight of the class was when the MC was asking the highest level learner to provide the dictation sentences followed by the chorale response. This ensured the highest level learner was challenged throughout the lesson.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):The class started on time. One of the learners brought her son which made it slightly difficult for her to focus especially closer to the end of the class. There was a lot of focus on pronunciation especially between ‘l’ and ‘r’ sound which has been difficult for most of the learners. After dictation, the focus was on recognizing various fruit names and with on-the-fly pictures shown, it made it easier for learners to comprehend.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):All the learners arrived a bit late due to technical difficulties with the front gate, but all learners were able to participate fully in the alphabet activity. There was one new learner whose level is higher than most, so the class actually started with a spoken activity about the weather. With a total of 4 helpers including the MC and the DJ, all three learners had dedicated help with the dictation writing. Each learner was very open in sharing her experiences in SE Portland. There was a good connection between all the learners by the end of the class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Forgot to add this, so adding another entry. Although learners arrived relatively on time, due to building access issue, there was a late start which turned out to be ok as there were only 2 learners. Due to many extra assistants, we were able to pair up each learner with an assistant for a focused dictation practice. Also with additional assistants, more explanations were given for assistants to understand the motivation for each section of the lesson. After getting familiar with the lesson’s structure, both learners opened up a lot more towards the end of the lesson.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): As it’s the first time at this site, there was a preliminary walk-through of the lesson with the shadower and assistants. The tables were arranged to be more suitable for a typical PPT session. Only one learner arrived relatively on time while the rest arrived later but all within the time of ‘alphabet sheet’ with the exception of one learner. Although it’s the first session for all the learners, it didn’t take long for the model of ‘ready’ to be caught-up by all. Also, this being the first session, more time were spent going around the table in pronouncing the numbers as well as the title sentence which was in part to assess each learner’s level. There was a great sense of belonging after about mid-way through the class as learners started to help each other more in writing the abbreviations and addresses. The class ended on a high-note with everyone feeling good about the class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Learners arrived late but all within the time of ‘alphabet sheet’ so we had a good practice of alphabet sheet before diving into the main part of the lesson. Overall the class went at a good pace and there was a good flow of energy. The dictation sentences weren’t too difficult either. There were enough engagement among the learners in doing the dictation sentences and the song.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):It was the final class of the year so it was a full house. In the first half, we had potluck and made origami that could be used to decorate Xmas lights. There was a lot of interactions among all the learners and it was a great way to end the year.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):There were two new learners to this Wednesday class who were, for the most part, got the rhythm of the class and the use of ‘ready’ pretty quickly. There were a nice exchange of names in the beginning to help learners to get to know each other better. The entire class consists of learning how to keep bugs away naturally using essential oils and dictating & singing a fun song.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): There was only one learner which was nice because all attention went to her. All the activities went well and at good speed for the learner to absorb. There was a lot of dictations but all at a reasonable length and not very wordy. In the end, MC even left few minutes to go over a homework learner has from another class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): There was a huge commotion at the beginning of the class as everyone was excited to have a birthday celebration and eat cake which took place in the first half hour of the class. All the learners enjoyed the actual lesson as they joked with each other and share each other’s answer. There was a good practice of vocabularies centered around food for making salad. Overall it was a very fun class for all the learners.
