What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Fun and engaging session on growing produce at home in containers. This seemed to be a novel idea to the learners. We discussed this as well as the legal status of Oregonians growing marijuana in their homes. Jessica drew plants that are easy to go on a whiteboard and the group tried to guess what they were. One particularly lovely drawing came to be known as the “stupid melon.” Ha! Jessica brought small containers, potting soil, and a large clove of garlic. She dictated directions and the group planted their garlic and took it home with them. Finally, we looked at Facebook posts of a former class teacher who is now teaching English in the home country of one of the students. Fun class.
