What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Well, the class went quite alright. It was Cheryl’s dress rehearsal. We learned about the name of various flowers and did a fun interactive activity that had the learners acting out some of the verbs we had gone over. The DJ (that would be me) totally screwed up and only wrote down everyone’s first name on the attendance sheet I kept, so attendance is way off base. :(

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We got a few minutes late start due to a doctor’s appointment running late for our MC. Luckily, only a few minutes past 2pm we started. We had a few fairly new faces. The class was on farmers markets. Some items were passed around, which the students identified to each other, we discussed questions/words one might use at a farmer’s market/information desk. Omar, our new learner who is so recently arrived in America seems to have opened up quite a lot in the last few days since his class and I can already see a change in him, which is amazing!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): So many new faces today. Many came from a new family that came together in a group. We also had a new learner, Omar, who was extremely shy and young. At the end of the class, I found out that he’d only been in this country for 4 days! Amazing. We did a lot of work with schedules, calendars, ordinal numbers.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Alphabet Sheets, Name Yell and Spell then we set off to the park nearby. A small group originally ,but we lost Klavdia once she realized that we would be walking. We nearly lost Abeda as she was tired and afraid the walk would be too hard on her as she is currently fasting. Abeda was a trooper though and decided to join the group. During the lesson we learned to identify various items in the park (Douglas Fir tree, drinking fountain, rotting tree stump), passed around objects that Ivy had brought ( frisbee, sunscreen) that one might bring to the park to identify them. On the way back, Ivy shared a big box of fruit-nut bars.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):Energetic class overall. The highlight was that the learners were instructed on the proper way to play Rock-Paper-Scizzors. Patrik dictated the steps to play which everyone spelled out and repeated. We had a pretty small group (7) but everyone seemed quite engaged. Y brought cherries for the group which everyone partook ofexcept Abeda. Mohini had the old group wish her mom a happy birthday in a video message.
