What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
First class of walker is was a great show up and we had 3 leaners. Julie worked with items that were in the kitchen such as Fork. spoon, frying pan, cup etc. they went around working with saying “This is a pan, A what? A pan, oh! A pan” then she also did command and action form with using the materials that we were working with. Overall great start for the first day cant wait till next weekApril 26, 2014 at 3:05 pm #2258Gabby CSpectator4/16/2014

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Gabby focused on teaching vocabulary, with this is an apple & dictation/choral response. We brought blenders & she dictated 2 smoothie recipes. Then we made smoothies. Fun class!May 4, 2014 at 5:11 pm #2480Julie ShannonSpectatorDate of Class:4/30/14

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
Gabby led abc listen & point, dictation with emergency vocabulary, listen & point with a red cross emergency handout. She also had folks practice reading from it, and asked the advanced learner to translate/explain the meaning to other participants. Then we did a focused 911 dialogue while addressing a participant’s question regarding the difference between said/says, so we designed the dialogue accordingly “911 what’s your emergency? My dad cut his leg, he said it’s bleeding a lot. Ok help is on the way. Please hurry. He says it’s getting worse”. Lots of multi level engagement and laughing.May 8, 2014 at 2:29 pm #2572Gabby CSpectatorDate of Class: /5/7/2014

Started off with the Abc’s listen and point and then we did first and last names. next we had them write down their contact information on the emergency sheet that Julie had brought afterwards she had them write down Emergency, police, fire department, etc… had them repeat each word and go around and each person would repeat the word then we did a script on calling the 911 we did it twice and had them write down and then they would get some practice from it then they would turn to each other. overall it was a great class a lot of laughter, had a new student and the assistance were kept busy.May 17, 2014 at 12:26 pm #2917Brooke StadySpectatorDate of Class:5/14/14

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Started off class with only 3 learners but by the time we finished names, we had 6. They practiced the alphabet in 3 different ways, and memorized each others first and last names (at least for the 15 minutes we practiced :) Next they practiced the dialogue “what would you carry in your emergency food box” with lots of choral repetition happening. They practiced the dialogue in pairs and we had them come up with a list of items they would carry in their own personal food box. Class ended with a quick “this is a ____”, A What?!. Only had time to introduce one item, which was a first aid kit. Fun class!May 27, 2014 at 10:01 pm #2992Gabby CSpectatorDate of Class: 5/20/2014

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific)
Started off with listen and point worked on B and V then we did first name and someone else’s name, we did a small activity so we can get the group to move around “head and shoulders, knees and toes etc…” worked on “what would you do if your house was on fire?” example of answer “I would call 911 and get out of my house” then Julie had them write down what they would do in that situation. Next was “This is a ___ A what? A ___ oh! A ___” had them go around. Brought food to celebrate our last day and it was fun overall. -
