Started off with ABC listen and point, mixed it up a little by doing 3 words at a time or just 1. next yell and spell names. afterwards Zadok had everyone write down the quote “money doesn’t grow on trees” and practiced with them a few times. Then he had a jar of coins (such as quarters, half dollar, silver dollar, susan b. Anthony dollar. etc..) and did a dictation “This a quarter” “A what?!” “a quarter” oh! a quarter” went around the table then did role play with a script and had them write it down and repeat with him and with each other. lastly memorized names and had volunteers to name everybody. Great class and a great way to start of the term!! losts of laughters and smiles!October 15, 2014 at 9:24 pm #3963Gabby CSpectatorLesson Title: Vote by mail

started off with abc’s and yell and spell. patrik and I did the challenge of naming all 14 students and it was great. Next was having them write down the lesson title “Voting by mail” practiced a few times and then he had brought in his ballot which was a really great engagement technique. went around “This is a ballot” “A what?!” “A ballot” “oh a ballot” went on with the other items that he had brought in. Overall class was great lots a laughter and engagement.October 26, 2014 at 9:38 pm #4076Zadok TaylorSpectatorLesson Title: Money

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Good overall. Gabby was a bit tired, which affected her performance slightly, but still held a solid class. Had a young student who struggled a bit and could be considered an “extraordinary circumstance” that was handled not ideally by either the DJ or MC.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
Started off with the usual Abc’s, yell and spell, then worked on “Did you vote today” had them write it down and repeat next we had them write down “Aye” they were so shocked that it meant “yes” it was amazing on how many times they would be repeating “Aye” it was full of laughs as well. Then had them write down “do you like coffee, ice cream, chocolate, etc..” say “aye!”. Afterwards, Julie handed out the Official ballot we had them examine the whole paper after a few seconds we practiced saying “Here it is” then did some listen and points. Lastly we divided the group in half (5) handed them the Full text ballot and had them practice as a team “We’ve got it!” and did listen and point together all team members had to find the word together and point with the tip of their pencil together and say We’ve got it together. then I decided to switch it up a little by having someone volunteer to say a word and watch us eye balling the paper till one team would say “we’ve got it” first. it was a really great class full of laughs and smiles

was a great class. started with Abc’s had them practice pronouncing B and V and then next we kicked it off by yell and spell after yelling out names had some volunteers to see who could name out everybody’s name (had three volunteers). next had them write down a certain amount of money and how to correctly write it such as $1.75, .75, $1,125.00 etc… then did a quick dialog had them write it down practiced both A and B parts split the tables in half had them work each other. afterwards Julie quickly had them write down the number and the word 13,30,15,50(you could tell that it was a big twist for them because most students would write 50 instead of 15) and had them practice the pronunciations. overall great class!November 3, 2014 at 9:21 pm #4131Zadok TaylorSpectatorLesson Title: Holy Loads of Dialogue

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): 3 different dialogues. Gabby tried a new activity to get new people to connect, and it was kinda chaotic, but worked in the end. Tried a new table arrangement, but end of one of the table got super isolated and resulted in a super difference in the time finishing an activity.

B2: Im busy and looking forward to the weekend. B3: im tired, its been a long week!
practiced those terms then we worked on “hey what are you up to?” B1: on my way to work B2: gotta head to the store B3: im heading home.
Practiced all of those with Julie and with each other.

So I decided to twist things around so during Abc’s the students would volunteer and to do the Abc’s. it was great they even started with “Ready!?” Talked about if they’ve been to the Oregon coast/ Mount Hd. did a quick listen and point then had them write down a couple of sentences from a book that Julie brought. She would read and they would write. then we practiced/sang a song about Oregon. it was a great class. -
