What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): A good number of learners came today, as well as two new shadows. Learners used their smart phones (and Zoe’s laptop) to do some searches on Google Maps. We looked at what was nearby Rockwood library, and the zoo, and then places other people named and how long it would take to get there. Zoe created a really clever (but simple!) crossword that could be filled out by searching on google maps. Upon reflection, we may have seated folks differently, to have our lowest level learner surrounded by high level learners on the same side of the table.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): MC Amanda emphasized the difference between this vs. these throughout the duration of the lesson, which everyone seemed to really appreciate. Conversational exercises during round robin were incredibly fun and cohesive. Lots of laughter and all around great camaraderie. Getting the class moving around for the catalog search very much improved the flow of the class. The catalog search on one computer and one iPad, on the other hand, was not nearly as effective. Class dispersed into separate conversation and lost focus. Perhaps next time we could provide everyone with a library laptop so that they may follow along.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): There were 5 learners, 1 shadower, a volunteer, an MC and a DJ, so each learner had ample guidance! The learners also worked well together. Some learners surprised us by doing exceptionally well with the seek and find activity. It was a great class!

At the end Amanda handed out a flyer about coming to see the swifts and went over it with the learners.
