    What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): This was our 1st foray into a “silent lesson.” Julie used printed cards for her role, also physical motions for various portions of this lesson, including: stirring, chopping, cutting, whisking. washing hands, flipping, spreading, pouring, We did name intro’s of selves and to each other; dialogue and writing down: What are the 4 steps to food safety? Clean, separate, cook and chill. Julie gave me non-verbal cues, by pointing to words to use in a word find. All in all, this was an enjoyable adventure in a new method of teaching / learning for all. The learners caught on quickly & responded very well.

    What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Students practiced a dialogue on the topic of asking for a ride and giving directions. We did a document search of street and park names on a map of Portland. We stood up and got physical with finding directions and walking in directions. We had one new student and a medium sized class for Midland. Students were engaged and helping one another.

    Preparation = 7 ; Technique = 5 ; Engagement = 5; Connection = 6 ; Poise = 5 ; Reflection = 8. Total Score = 36.

    Two assistants: Lisa and Kristen, both shadowing. Class was fully engaged with laughter, bantering, round robin activity, using word searches and dialogue with each other. This ” silent lesson” progressed very well, with all participants actively involved. We had two (2) new learners. submitted on this ‘free form’ by William S. because I was unable to retrieve the proper template, either last eve or this am. Hoping I did not omit anything essential, for this report.
