What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Class started a few minutes late while we waited for learners to come. After the alphabet sheet, names, and the title of the lesson, we did a dictation activity on the ways to maintain a healthy home. We also did a vocabulary adaptation of snakes and ladders. Between this activity and a dialog that ended the class, we got up and did a TPR activity.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): the class was engaged and we used every single minute from beginning to end. One learner was a bit resistant and sassy, but she still participated fully. I wondered if she would return and at the end she said, “See you next Wednesday!” So I count that as a win.
We did the standard warm ups, a document search, a pictionary style game, and filled out a repair request. My technique could’ve used some refining with this particular lesson to have been more effective in the module, but by no means was this a bad class. It was fun and engaging.January 25, 2016 at 8:23 pm #7128QrysiSpectatorLesson Title: What Comes Around Goes Around

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Class started a couple minutes late but ended on time. Today’s class included brief two sentences that the learners wrote down and repeated with choral response, and a round robin activity using “Have you been to…?” We also did a round robin activity using a map I used in the last class that had been cut into each region of the US. Towards that last bit of class, I ran out of activities so I had the learners work together to put the US back together by region. Then, I did a listen and point with that.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): the class started not inside of the room #5 where we teach classes because the school had a staff meeting in there and they were suppose to finish before our class would start but it’s their second time finishing late so we had to start in the back next to that room. The class itself was good, Krysie has been working on her techniques of how to raise the energy and that day it was visible. Learners had fun with real-world materials related to the module healthy home!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We did names a little different this time, having each learner spell their name quickly without pausing and having the other learners work together to make sure they got it right. Then, I had them repeat the name and how to spell it. The rest of the class, we did a This is an Apple activity with fruits from trees (like an apple), and a couple dialogs.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We started class in the hallway a few minutes late since we didn’t have a classroom until halfway through. After the alphabet sheet, names, and the lesson title, we wrote down a list of vocabulary words and worked with pronunciation. Then, we did a This is an Apple activity, and drew trees to label (they thought this one was really fun). We then stood up, did a few stretches, a short TPR activity and moved into the classroom. Once there, we watched a video, wrote down what they said, and repeated it. To end class, we did a dictionary game where they had to draw the objects I brought in, and parts of a tree.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We started a Bingo game after the normal warmup stuff, and worked with a dialog. The class had a lot of energy- more than usual which was nice. It was a really fun class. I had one learner in this class that was struggling the last few classes with the alphabet sheet, but she showed up to this class with a lot more skill. I didn’t see her last Wednesday (or Monday since there wasn’t class) but it was surprising that she improved so much in just a little over a week.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The class had a good amount of energy and they are working well to help the lower level learners, more than they had in the past. We worked with a pretty big dialog, which they enjoyed but still challenged them. Towards thee end of class, we did a round robin activity with the Deck of Professions. This was the first time I’ve used the deck for this class, and they were impressed by the artwork.
