Picked up learners from library at 8:30am. Drove together to the church. Checked learners in and ate breakfast. Headed to the parking lot at 9am to load trees and tools into the truck. Divided the team up into 3 cars. Planted 10 trees at 5 homes. Ended and went to the church for potluck lunch. Dropped off learners at 1:30 at Midland.2019-04-15 at 07:56 #11158Ian ConnellySpectatorLesson Title: Beach school intercambio 1
Date of Class: 4/12
Day of Class: friday
Time of Class: 9am
MC: Patrik
DJ: Ian
Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner:
Module:
How Many Learners: 8
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc):This was the first of 4 one hour language exchange sessions bringing angli and hispano folks together with common interest in practicing the other language. Magically, 4 anglos and 4 hispanos showed up. making for 4 pairs which hardly ever happens. Patrik led group through timed listening and repeating activities after getting all to yell and spell on their languages. Was nevessary to do a bit of managing of one spanish learner who was pressing for a little more unstructuredness but that was managed w poise and good explanation. Folks enjoyed it and want to see it happen again!
4 kids showed up, it is necessary to have at least one person available for childcare.2019-04-25 at 20:57 #11211Ian ConnellySpectatorLesson Title: Beach school intercambio

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): this was the 2nd of 4 intercambios in the school. a couple of the folks from last time coulnt make it so we subbed in new folks. unfortunately it was not an even split between anglos and hispanos but fortunately one of the anglos was a high skilled spanish speaker and could do interp into spanish for patrik, thereby staying engaged. patrik led solid class and there was good enthusiasm and appreciation
