Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): learner identifiers were initially constructed incorrectly but Amanda and I are working to make them correct and consistent!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The survey was a bit tedious and did not engage the learners in the most effective way. We noticed that computer use was difficult (using mouse/keyboard, typing) overall.
For question #4, most learners wanted to input a distance answer (2 blocks) rather than a time answer (5 minutes). For #9, Amanda had to take a good amount of time to explain/rephrase the question. For #18, we are unsure if the learners understood that they were intended to answer the total household income rather than just their personal income. #23 was a confusing question for our learners because they all have cars- would it be possible to skip a question based on a previous answer?
We also noticed that some of the phrasing may be difficult: vehicle vs. car, career vs. work, excellent vs. very good.
We thought another good question might be “Have you ever used Trimet?” because a few of our learners had not.
It was also helpful to have higher English level learners helping lower English level learners because they could often explain questions in a way that made more sense to the lower level learners. Overall, all learners were successful in completing the lesson and the survey within the class time.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The PSU transportation survey went well with a few changes in wording! Rachel included pictures of the types of transportation as well as options of transportation, which we all felt was very helpful to the learners. We made some changes for clarity as well: changed “religious activities” to “church or temple”, “Which day did you go to work?” rather than “When did you…” , found that the lyft logo was difficult to read for non native English speakers, said “visit friends or family” instead of “friends or relatives”, used transportation instead of travel. The learners were very engaged with each other and there was lots of laughter today! Overall great class
