What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Today’s lesson was done by Liz, who was doing her dress rehearsal. Liz led a great class with the alphabet sheet, yell n spell, and lots of dictation progression. At one point we had 16 learners in the classroom, which is a lot! Two learners left part of the way through the lesson, and unfortunately we couldn’t get cards to them before that. But we still ended the class with 14 people, which is still a lot! Christina had great cues and tips for Liz. We also had someone from IRCO come by and observe our class. Overall, the class went well!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Melissa led a great class today, where we had 3 new learners. We had a lot of new learners, some who were low leveled, so Melissa led a nicely passed alphabet sheet activity. Yell n Spell went great. We did a time card activity, where we filled out a time card like we were at work. We also did a document word search about minimum wage in Oregon. Overall the class went well, and it was exciting to see 13 learners at Midland! The most we’ve had this session!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Qyris led a great class where the learners were engaged and laughing. We had two shadows, Francine and Daniel who also participated well and quickly got the rhythm of the class. We did the alphabet sheet, yell n spell, dictation progression and a dialogue activity. Students were engaged and connected well with others. Some learners were moved around to accommodate others and their learning levels. Qyrsi led a great class today. We had 2 new learners. We went through the alphabet sheet, yell & spell, this is an apple, a new category game Qyrsi came up with, a document word search, and dictation progression. The learners really enjoyed the category game because it got them to get up and move around a lot. They got really into it. I think it was a nice change of pace from what the previous classes have been, and I look forward to incorporating some of the techniques and games that were done today into my own classes. Overall, it was an awesome class, and I believe the students are getting more attuned with helping each other out without much prompting.Lesson Title: Citizenship Test

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Overall, the class went well. The seating arrangement was great, so the lower level learners were able to work with the higher level learners and succeed together. Some students started to show some disinterest during Alphabet Listen & Point, but moving on to Yell & Spell helped re-engage those learners. MC needed heavy prompting throughout the document word search and dictation progression, and round robin. Learners enjoyed bingo at the end of the class. We had to new learners at class today. DJ used the reflection time at the end to reiterate the importance of “Ready!” and moving around the classroom, and how to properly work through dictation progression and round robin.

Overall, things went well. Group was larger than what MC was prepared for and, he thought that having “learners of different levels was a challenge”. Had some technical difficulties with the video and the internet, but DJ was able to keep busy with document word search and dictation progression. Technique was fine, could have used “Ready” more often. Students were engaged, but it took some time to warm up. Overall, it went fine and the learners enjoyed Bingo at the end.
