What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):

Change of venue tonight; Sandy Historical Society. Volunteer from the Historical Society ran most of the class in a guided tour and scavenger hunt. Children attended about half of the tour and then were supervised in the child play area of the museum. Positive feedback received from learners before the class ended. Finished with a recap of some of the vocabulary and main topics introduced during the tour and a reminder that class will be in our regularly scheduled location this next week.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):

We had a total of 7 learners attend tonight’s class. Most made it to class on time. We had two late comers who arrived within the first hour of instruction. Tonight was Carlos’s dress rehearsal. The children were kept separate from the class itself, as we had enough helpers to supervise this.

Overall, class flowed nicely and everyone remained focused and ready to learn. For the Alphabet Listen and Repeat exercise, Carlos mixed up and included practically every letter of the alphabet, which was a good change of pace and kept the learners at the edge of their seats in anticipation of what was to come. We covered about ten or more items from a 72 hour emergency preparedness kit; everything from a toothbrush to a comb, a band-aid to beef jerky, and so on. Class participation was high and there are several learners who have improved quite a bit given the short time we have been offering classes here in Sandy.

    What happened:
We had a total of 6 learners tonight (all returning) with about 8 accompanying children, of all ages. Most learners arrived past the starting time of 6pm, however, by 630pm all 6 learners were present and appeared ready and eager to learn.
We started off with a different sequence of events to help cater to the needs of the few learners who were there on time.
Tonight’s class also varied from the few before, as we kept the children in a separate location and under direct supervision of our dear friend, Katie who works for the Sandy Library. While this will not always be available, tonight it truly helped keep the class on task and focused.
The learners engaged more and more together. Towards the end of class, two of the higher skilled learners took on a role of helping the others. Class ended promptly at 730pm.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):

We had nine learners return from our first night, one from our pilot/practice night, and one completely new learner attend tonight’s class. Most learners who had been to class before were quick to pick up on the routine and consistency of the tasks at hand. There was an eerie, yet calming moment of silence amongst the room about mid-way through the evening when everyone was on task and focused (children included). We had a handful of kiddos running around again this time and have discussed changing up the room setup for next week’s class to better meet the needs of all; learners, children, and us.
Class made it farther into the lesson than the previous night’s class. Included in today’s lesson: Ready, Alphabet – listen and point, Yell and Spell, Dictation Progression, and Ballet Measure Document Search.
