What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Having students create sentences from pictures was helpful. We forgot a couple times to have the students read back sentences from the video. Also learning environment was a little noisy. It was great watching the students help each other.

We made a good choice with the video this week. It was much more engaging than last week and the students seemed to be having fun with it. There could have been more activities planned, but we also had a small class, so things went faster than expected.

We enjoyed that both learners had the opportunity to speak and craft their own stories for the class. The activities were creative and allowed the learners to see plants in real life. They learned vocabulary that is unique to Oregon and how they interact with plants in their own ways. The learners connected with each other and there was a lot of laughter. Something that could have been improved was making sure we stayed on topic.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Dictated my employment history and goals and had the learners use that as a way to describe for themselves. Use the deck of professions to play slap-jack, talking about the names and position on the cards between slaps. This game went over fairly well, and the learners got to ask a lot of questions about the professions.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was a warm day, so two students bailed. Folks were a little exhausted from the heat, but were overall participatory. Had a little bit of 1:1 time between assistants and learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Had a new student, but it sounds like her husband wasn’t super impressed with the class. Lindsay did a great job as her first time MCing, and she personally wanted to work on her transitions, which could be smoothed but were overall okay.

Everything went very well today. It was a bit rocky when starting the google maps activity only because it was a bit more complex, but we dealt with this by doing it for a long time until everyone reached full comprehension.

We passed around different types of library books using “this is an apple” activity. Did dictation using a video about the Beaverton library. Learners seemed to be struggling a bit with writing out numbers, so we did some practice with that which I think was really helpful for them.August 13, 2018 at 7:39 pm #10375Kelin DonerSpectatorLesson Title: Ordering Stuff Online

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Maybe could have planned a few more activities for the learner beforehand. However, the class ran very smoothly and the learner seemed to really enjoy the class and the opportunity to practice a job interview. The “make your own resume” activity went over very well and engaged the learner.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):Claire is a newer teacher, she’s doing great, but still getting the hang of things. Today’s class was bigger and very chatty which gave her a chance to test her assertiveness to put it short lol.
We had a new learner today come in who is going to need a lot of extra help in the future, but she seems very eager to learn!!!!!August 28, 2018 at 9:25 pm #10411Claire MeyerSpectatorLesson Title:
