What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The class started a little slower with fewer learners, but both were engaged and participating in the activities. The MC tackled learners not understanding the difference between years and decades by diverting from the current activity, and they gained better understanding. The students found relevance in the subject matter of the TriMet. At the end of class, one learner took a HOP card.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Betty brought a lot of great real world materials for this class to talk about the life cycle of an apple. We did some activities putting images with different stages of the life cycle in order, did dictation from a video, used a real apple and some lilies to discuss parts of fruit and flowers, and used apples, pears, and plums to talk about “the least” and “the most.” Betty also brought us apple pie and cider. Thank you for the treat, Betty!

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):There was a lot of excitement and commotion because today was the birthday of one of the learners. So there was a lot of fun at the beginning just to celebrate the birthday including cake eating and festivities. As a result of all this connection, there was a lot of laughter during the actual class. And the birthday honoree really opened up too, as they talked a lot even though most of the time they were speaking in their native language.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): There was a huge commotion at the beginning of the class as everyone was excited to have a birthday celebration and eat cake which took place in the first half hour of the class. All the learners enjoyed the actual lesson as they joked with each other and share each other’s answer. There was a good practice of vocabularies centered around food for making salad. Overall it was a very fun class for all the learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We had another birthday this week. This group has been really connected and it was great to see how much effort the learners put into showing up for each other. It’s something really special. After we had a little celebration we did a lesson about how peaches got to the US, with a word scramble and video. Then we had an activity where the students got to the US.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): One student needed to get up and walk around, expressing earlier that she did get motion sickness, and participated more in helping other folks spell than writing things down herself. I have some time for the students to check in with her, but otherwise proceeded with the lesson. One of the learner’s loyalty cards are missing, possible due to our stack being fairly messed up in the Unite Oregon closet- we need some sort of container here.
