    Lesson Title: Let’s Get Cooking

Date of Class: Jan 23, 2019

    Time of Class: 6:00 PM

    MC: KelinCatloverTeacher

    DJ: BettyFunTeacher

    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner:

    Module: In the Kitchen

    How Many Learners: 6

Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): Need more alphabet sheets

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 5

Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 5

Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 5

    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 5

    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 6

    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 6

    Total Score: 32

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): All learners were new and from the local community. One of the learners left (and never returned) by the time alphabet sheet was finished due to the child he brought along needed additional attention and was distracting other learners. More than half of the learners had difficulty writing words, let alone sentences, and this difficulty stems not from their lack of confidence, but rather their lower level literacy skills.
Although the dictation was toned down by a lot, it was still evident in the disparity of the levels and how it’s affecting the learning dynamics of the whole group.

    Lesson Title: What’s up, doc?
Date of Class: Jan 28, 2019

    MC: ZadokTóngzhì
DJ: MC Entered attendance, no DJ
    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner:
    Module: At the Doctor
    How Many Learners: 8
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): More alphabet sheets

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 5
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 4
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 6
    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 5
    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 5
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 5

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Our long-time learners and new learner children were really helpful with the new learners. Did more physical identification/document search of physically demonstrated vocabulary. Kids were also quite loud at times, and one of the learners who has complained about sound before seemed upset.

    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 5

    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 6

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We did a variety of activities using objects found in a kitchen, including some practice with prepositions. New learners struggled a bit in the beginning, but after some repetition and help from more experienced learners seemed to catch on. One learner left partway through because he had a small child that was disrupting the class. We would like to figure out a way to keep the child entertained so that the learner can stay for the duration of the lesson.

We ended the class doing coloring where learners had a chance to do more verbal practice of clothing and different type of colors.
