What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We had the laptops set up on the library catalog page. Each learner was paired with an assistant. We went over the basics as a listen and point, ex. “point to the mouse”, “find : LINCC” etc. Once we we sure they had the basics, we moved on to search for books with the word “cat”. We then used various limiters, such as Spanish and Children. After each limiter, we looked at how many books were left. We repeated the exercise using “gato”, People were surprised to see there was only one book left when we started with cat and two books left when we started with gato. For the remaining 10 minutes, each pair choose a word to search trying various limiters. It was a very useful and engaging class.
