Lesson Title: What is your favorite kitchen utensil?

Date of Class: Jan 30, 2019

    DJ: DanielGoofyProfessor

    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner:

    Module: In the Kitchen

    How Many Learners: 4

Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): Completely out of attendance sheets!

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 9

Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 8

Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 8

    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 8

    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 8

    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 8

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We started the class with two learners, and two more brand new students joined us about 20 minutes in.

A varied, high-energy lesson. Since we’d already done yell and spell when the our last couple students arrived, we got to do it twice! Lots of props for vocabulary and round robins, lots of movement and miming, all building on the same vocabulary.

I learned a lot from watching Melissa MC – I love her steady friendly energy.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): The class was very engaged during the entire period. I totally went off track of my lesson plan because they were so curious about many of the abbreviations and symbols on the 10-day forecast handouts. I went in depth about N, E, S, W and all of the abbreviations associated with understanding a weather report. I had them do Round Robin with questions about the actual weather for the next week. It was fun.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Had a class of 9 students with 4 shadowers, and 2 facilitators. A lot of shadowers but this only meant that each student was able to get more attention. Purfe is super low level so he always needs a buddy or needs to have sentences pre-written for him. He was slowing up the class a bit. It was a good class.
