What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Tonight’s class had learners pretty engaged. The brochure material that was brought to class got the learners interested to find out something about an event in their community. The learners were well seated tonight and connected well with each other; helping one another out. We did a listen and do activity with gardening verbs such as digging and planting. The learners had a good time with that activity. Overall fun class.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Fewer learners than we expected. Seating arrangements worked out GREAT today, Hong suggested that advanced learners sit on the edges of the table and lower skill learners in the middle and on the ends to ensure that everyone was covered. Amanda brought in a Smoke Alarm and that was fun, lots of dictation, we reflected to try to do a bit more interaction next time, but great class

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was a small class, but learners connected well with each other through the activities. The weather was good enough that we were able to go outside and see the garden. We did a “This is a….” activity with the garden and with vegetables that were provided in class by the MC. We also did a “Do you like…” round robin with the vegetables. Overall, the learners had fun and engaged well with the activities.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): A very small group today, perhaps because the elementary school had a late start day. There were three learners and three kids brought along. We took the learners outside to the Kelly community garden and introduced lots of plants and garden items (garden bed, wood chips, soil, trowel, parsley, kale, artichoke, etc). It was a little difficult to keep the focus because of the children (who were having a great time in the garden but were also a little distracting). Once back inside we worked on more dictation, including “You can grow food in the community garden. Just talk to Ian!”
