What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We startedwith the alphabet sheet and dictation of some complicated number sets and moved on to name yell and spell. Then the MC dictated the title of today’s class. New students kept walking in throughout the class but were welcomed and taken care of. Next we did a word search and dialogue practice regarding emergencysituations. MC handed out emergency contact cards as an example of what things look like in the real world. We ended the class with a moderated group conversation.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): we went through the standard lesson plan. and then began the lesson topic of preparing for an earthquake. There were two learners who were lower level so the DJ and Diana focused their time on them so that Priya could move on with the more advanced learners. There was a video about how to be prepared and the myths of preparation and also a little game about what to put in to an emergency kit. One of the learners had a pocket knife which was a new item for some in the room. We were able to use it as an example to introduce a real world item to some of the learners.

Coming into the class, we had not only several student assistants help out today, but we had 4 additional assistants in a class of just 4 learners! The class was very high energy and lively. We started off by introducing ourselves to each other, then did choral response with the names. We did the storm activity which got everyone laughing. We also did the round robin activity with asking people if they had ever broken a bone or had stitches. We also did the body parts listen and do and wrote these down towards the end.

We started with the alphabet sheet and moved on to yell and spell with names. Charlie dictated the title of the lesson next. We did the document search after that with some real world materials followed by dialogue dictation and practice. We ended the class with a moderated but open-ended discussion.
