Next, she had students listen to a dialogue. After the dialogue, students wrote down some phrases from the dialogue, then practiced doing smalltalk in various different situations. Students practiced with the dialogue a little bit more, then did some open discussion.

Next was a find and point exercise with an article about small talk. It was followed by dictation. He then had the students practice some phrases regarding small talk about weather.     What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Priya started with the alphabet, then had folks spell their names and other students point to the letters on the alphabet sheet. Students found words a phrases on an article as dictated by Priya, Zadok, and other students. Priya’s struggled to load a video for a bit, and Zadok had folks remember others names. Priya streamed the video from her phone, and students followed along on a transcript. Zadok and Priya dictacted/showed some meanings of some words, and then students broke into small groups for chatting for the last 10 minutes.

    What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): So this is the summary of today’s class, hopefully in the right order. Patrik started the class with a small dictation exercise and then moved on to the alphabet sheet. Next we learnt everybody’s names, followed by another dictation and choral response activity. We then did, a listen and find activity with the Declaration of Independence. We finished with an entertaining listen and do activity.

    What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Charles started with the alphabet sheet then moved on to numbers. We also did the name activity where we took turns spelling out our names. We also did a fun activity where we got up and pointed to different directions (N, S, NE, SW etc.) He then picked places and we had to guess in what direction they were. We followed that up with asking each other questions (Do you know any interesting facts about the Declaration of Independence?) and then wrote down sentences followed short explained answers they could listen to. This was Charles dress rehearsal and my first time DJing.

We also had a native English speaker there that came in with a learner and ended up helping us out too!
