    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 3

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): So happy that 4 people came! Esther called several folks right before, and they came, that was fantastic. Like most first classes, it had its awkward moments, and I didn’t really come with a lot of materials. I kept it going with “this is an apple” and a bit of dictation, but it never fully gelled. One learner has a condition where they say inappropriate things at times, which was a little unnerving for the learners. Still, they accepted the participant, and it mostly went well. We will see though, if it affects attendance the next week. I will follow up with Nate and Esther to check in with folks. Because there were no learners the first day, we considered moving to the daytime, but we have a chance of it rolling, so we’ll stick to it. Visited the PTA meeting and said hello to to several folks who participated in the intercambio, as well as chatting with the principal.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): a friend plus our regular came, as well as our person with a condition. we ended up talking about family a lot, but near the end, we opened up to talk about the learners condition, and how difficult things were, which allowed another learner to share a similar story, and talk about how people need to be more open to include people who have disabilities, not the other way around. Everyone was crying.

She seemed to have fun with the class because she said she would come back again next week. Unfortunately, I missed one learner who always comes to a class. She came to the class but she couldn’t see me although I was outside in the hallway for reading signs to wait for others I still didn’t see her come to the class.

Nick also gave Thanksgiving story for dictation, and the story was able to relevant with the learner because the story told about the celebration on Thanksgiving.
