Lesson Title: Let’s ride the MAX!
    Date of Class: 10/01/2018
    Day of Class: Monday
    Time of Class: 6:00pm
    MC: Kelin
    DJ: Vanessa
    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner: Catrina
    Module: Tri-Met/Getting Around
    How Many Learners: 2
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): All good

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 5
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 6
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 7
    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 6
    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 5
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 5

    Total Score: 34

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Students seemed to have the most fun listening to and dictating the Sesame Street ‘Meet me at the bus stop’ song. Kelin was good at facilitating song dictation, which is usually difficult to do, as songs are harder to understand than dialogue for most second language speakers.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): As always, Amanda is one of best teachers in PPT. I always learn so much from her. She’s awesome at keeping the class engaged, makes us all laugh, is on point in every way, and is SO OPEN to constructive criticism. All in all, a great class!

Lesson Title: Looking for a Book
    Date of Class: 08/29
    Day of Class: Wednesday
    Time of Class: 6:00PM
    MC: Claire
    DJ: Vanessa
    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner: Francine
    Module: Library/Library Orientation
    How Many Learners: 10
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): COMPLETELY out of loyalty cards

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 5
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 4
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 6
    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 5
    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 4

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Because me and Claire are still getting our bearings, the class didn’t feel as organic as it could’ve or should’ve been. Despite that, everyone was totally engaged and the content seemed to stimulate minds and posed challenges. We had two newcomers and they fit right in with the rest of the class! (Welcome Juana and Jacky!) The students seemed to struggle with dictation, but this was in part due to the chattiness of this particular group. MC Claire did a great job leading, but progression dictation lost its way a bit down the line. In hindsight, we decided that because the students tend to get overwhelmed easily during this section of the class we would improve DP for next time. Also, there were no loyalty cards whatsoever and I had to scramble to print more during actual class time, which left our shadower Francine to do the heavy lifting in my place. I slightly replenished them for next class, but I’m really hoping people will remember to replace them or at least leave the one sheet in the folder to make copies from.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): MC Amanda emphasized the difference between this vs. these throughout the duration of the lesson, which everyone seemed to really appreciate. Conversational exercises during round robin were incredibly fun and cohesive. Lots of laughter and all around great camaraderie. Getting the class moving around for the catalog search very much improved the flow of the class. The catalog search on one computer and one iPad, on the other hand, was not nearly as effective. Class dispersed into separate conversation and lost focus. Perhaps next time we could provide everyone with a library laptop so that they may follow along.
