    Assistants/Shadowers/Auditioner:
    Module: Prevention & Wellness Viruses
    How Many Learners: 2
Materials Status (loyalty cards, alphabet sheets, etc): It was okay.

    Self Evaluation

Preparation: Forgot to Show Up (1) vs. Every Hair In Place (10) = 7
Technique: Completely Incompetent (1) vs. Flawless Delivery (10) = 7
Engagement: Snoring Loudly (1) vs. Absolutely Riveted (10) = 7
    Connection: Open Hostility (1) vs. Kumbayah (10) = 8
    Poise: Charlie Brown (1) vs. Prince (10) = 7
    Reflection: “It was ok.” (1) vs. Life-changing Epiphany (10) = 7

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We learned about how to wash hands. We started with the part of hands like palms, thumbs and wrists and then the steps of washing hands. One of the learners had difficulty of catching the vowel sound. So I had to bring out the alphabet sheet again. Even though the 2 learners are pretty engaged, I hope there are more learners.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): We spent less time for dictation and tried to focus on conversation. It seemed like Susanna is getting more confident day by day. She was very good at word-searching game. Spanish speakers put /Eh/ sound in front of some words and it’s hard to be fixed.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): Overall it went pretty well. Charolotte gave students some useful information such as a website and phone number that immigrants can reach out for help. We wrote down 10 sentences for dictation and We did a direction game in the middle of the dictation process. It helped learners to refresh and complete their work.

    Date of Class: 11/21
    Time of Class: 9:00 ~ 11:00
    Volunteers/Facilitators: Goeun
    Participants/Parents: 8 Chinese 3 Russian 1 Spanish 1 Vietnamese
    Number of Kids: 13
    What did you do:
One chinese mom was pregnant and other chinese moms enjoyed chatting each other, so I spent most of my time with their kids. 1V didn’t come on Tuesday because she started to work. But it sounded like “Today” not “Tuesday”, so I helped her pronounce ‘Tuesday’ and ‘Today’. Emma was taking some photos for her report, so I took photos of her circle time and sent them to her.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): There was a fire drill so we all went out for a while. It was very new and interesting to me. Emma announced that today was the last day of this term and next term will be in January. We said farewell to all the moms and Emma. I told Emma that I’ll be there in January as well.

    Time of Class: 9am~11am
    Volunteers/Facilitators: Goeun
    Participants/Parents: 5 Chinese, 3 Russian, 1 Spanish, 1 Vietnamese
    Number of Kids: 12
    What did you do:
The new Russian family from last week brought one more baby so I helped her playing with her older child. And I got to know that she has 4 children and two of them are very jealous. I studied English with Vietnamese mom, Thui. She said “ Amy..happy..play” so I told her “Amy is happy.” “Amy likes to play here.” And wrote them down. Thui asked the spanish mom how to pronounce her son’s name, Javier. She said “Havier” several times but Thui couldn’t make it. So I said “Happy, /h/,“ and it worked.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
The new Chinese family from last week started to come every time. In the circle time, Amy, the Vietnamese daughter, got so excited and danced a lot. The funder visited and stayed about an hour. Emma introduced me to her. She told me that next week will be the last day of this term and the next term will be in January. Emma won’t be there for the first week of winter term.

Time of Class: 9am to 11am
    Volunteers/Facilitators: Goeun
    Participants/Parents: 1 Spanish, 1 Vietnamise, 2 Russian, 4 Chinese
    Number of Kids: 8
    What did you do:
There were 4 new families(3C, 1R) so I spent much time getting to know them. None of them were natives but they’ve lived here for over 10 years so they all spoke fluent English. In the middle of the class, Amy(Vietnamise kid) looked sleepy so I taught her mom, Thui “She’s hungry” and “She’s sleepy” She asked me why I didn’t put (-ing) at the end of the word ‘sleep’. I explained the difference between “She’s sleepy” and “She’s sleeping” with some motions. She asked me how to ask questions with the sentence so I wrote down “Is she sleepy?”, “Is she sleeping”, “Yes, She is.”, “No, She isn’t” and all the sentences that we learned before.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific):
The Russian family whose grandma comes to PPT class, the grandma usually has classes with teacher named Amanda.
There was a new shy Chinese boy but he ended up choosing me as a person he likes the most in the room and gave me a rose made with clay dough. Amazing!
Thui(1V) suddenly came up to me and tried to say something about cooking but I couldn’t understand. Now I know that she tried to review the thing that she learned with May. When Thui(1V) left, she said “She’s sleepy.” to Emma. This was very impressive.
