What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): It was great to see 2 familiar learners come back after a bit of a break. We had one new learner who we saw this morning. With one new learner and a new shadower it was a lot to manage in terms of making everyone feel comfortable, but MC was flexible and everyone was flowing by the end.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): First class back in the new year. Took place on a rainy night and a no-school day. The one learner we had was new and a pretty high skilled learner. MC adapted plan to be more conversational, doing dictations of our respective living situations and inviting her to write down, choral response and other various prompts around narrating about our homes. She was receptive but wish we had more than one learner to take the pressure off her.

What happened (as short or as long as you like, but be specific): fewer learners today. spent much of the class doing well scaffolded and sequenced dictations and round robins about the history of mothers day. fx honed in on pronunciation of a few challenging words and with so much writing we were able to see some connections made by learners developing writing skills.

This was the first of 4 one hour language exchange sessions bringing angli and hispano folks together with common interest in practicing the other language. Magically, 4 anglos and 4 hispanos showed up. making for 4 pairs which hardly ever happens. Patrik led group through timed listening and repeating activities after getting all to yell and spell on their languages. Was nevessary to do a bit of managing of one spanish learner who was pressing for a little more unstructuredness but that was managed w poise and good explanation. Folks enjoyed it and want to see it happen again!
4 kids showed up, it is necessary to have at least one person available for childcare.
